Footlocker.com to Offer Deliv Crowdsourced Delivery Option

Foot Locker will begin offering shoppers on its Footlocker.com website the option to have their purchases delivered same-day using Deliv’s crowdsourced delivery service, Deliv announced Monday. As America’s 75 million students prepare to return to school, the same-day delivery service makes life simpler and more convenient at this busy time.

A first in the athletic footwear and apparel industry, Foot Locker is championing the need for speed and convenience in delivery of purchased items. Leveraging Deliv’s Application Programming Interface (API), which connects directly into the Footlocker.com website, shoppers can now select same-day or next day delivery for only five dollars. Customers will also have the option of shopping in the Foot Locker store and having their items delivered to a local destination of their choice.

The company is tapping into the growing importance of rapid delivery amongst online shoppers. In a recent Harris Poll survey, 81% of Americans said they were more likely to shop online if shipping was fast and low cost, while 66% of Americans said shipping costs were their “biggest online shopping pet peeve.”

Foot Locker will extend its existing “buy online, pick up in store” capability to launch the service initially at five stores in the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles, before rolling out across its network of more than 1,300 stores in the U.S. and Canada. Deliv will eventually be rolled out across all of Foot Locker, Inc.’s other brands, including Lady Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker, Champs Sports, and Footaction brands.

“It’s extremely fitting that Deliv has been chosen to support Foot Locker, a brand that helps its customers improve their performance and speed,” said Daphne Carmeli, CEO of Deliv. “Foot Locker knows the key to retail success is to give customers choice and convenience when shopping online or in store. Winners in the omnichannel world will be those like Foot Locker who surpass their customer’s expectations by giving them the ability to receive their merchandise when they want it, including same-day, all for five dollars.”

Foot Locker EVP of Operations, Mike Owens, added, “We want our customers to experience speed in everything they do, from shooting hoops to on the track. Our customers don’t want to wait to improve their own performance, and neither do we. That’s why we’ve partnered with Deliv to pair our physical stores and online eCommerce sites to offer flexible, fast and affordable delivery for our customers no matter if they are shopping online or in person.”

Deliv works directly with its retailers and partners to add the Deliv same-day delivery option into their checkout process, whether on their website, mobile app or in their physical brick and mortar store. The direct relationship between the retailer and shopper is maintained, allowing the retailer to maintain ownership and data from each customer transaction.

Deliv crowdsources its delivery personnel who are typically customer service and sales focused professionals. They receive delivery tasks via GPS-enabled smartphones. Each delivery may be rated by customers so the platform is able to prioritize the allocation of jobs to those with the highest ratings, ensuring an excellent consumer experience.

Managing a community of these on-demand drivers across the country, the Deliv platform incorporates smart routing and full transparency, including the ability for shoppers to watch their delivery on a map in real time from pick up to their desired destination.
