15 Feb Report: Ivanka Trump’s Sales Tumble At Nordstrom
Sales of Ivanka Trump’s merchandise at Nordstrom plummeted by nearly a third in the last fiscal year, including sliding more than 70 percent in the last three weeks of October 2016 just before the election.
That’s according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. The newspaper cited internal data from Nordstrom. The report followed up on Nordstrom’s controversial decision to drop the line.
Nordstrom said it dropped the line due to poor sales and not politics. The department store had faced calls for a boycott because it sold the line. President Donald Trump said in a tweet last Wednesday, “My daughter Ivanka has been treated so unfairly by Nordstrom.”
The brand continues to be available at other department stores such as Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s and Lord & Taylor.
Neiman Marcus also dropped Ivanka Trump’s line although it had only a small selection. TJ Maxx and Marshalls instructed employees to discard Ivanka Trump in-store signage although. Sears Holdings Corp., the owner of Sears and Kmart, said it would remove about 31 Trump-branded home products.
