29 Aug Report: Adidas Close To Inking Mega Deal With Arsenal
Adidas is close to replacing Puma as the sponsor of Arsenal in a five-year deal valued at $385 million. The kit deal would rank at as the third-biggest in soccer history.
The deal would rank behind only Barcelona’s partnership with Nike and Manchester United’s agreement with Adidas. According to sports business outlet John Wall Street, the contract is worth double what Puma currently pays.
Arsenal’s existing deal with Puma is worth $38.7 million a season but is set to come to an end next summer. Adidas sponsored the team in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Arsenal famously won the First Division title against Liverpool at Anfield wearing Adidas kits in 1989.
