16 Apr Hoka Signs Legendary Triathlete Dave Scott
Hoka One One, a division of Deckers Brands, announced the addition of legendary Ironman World Champion Dave Scott to its growing team of elite triathletes and runners. As a racer, a coach and a commentator, Scott brings over 39 years of triathlon experience to the Hoka team.
“Dave is the most recognizable triathlete in the world and it’s a real honor to have him on our team,” said Jim Van Dine, brand president of Hoka One One. “Dave’s continuing influence on the sport is undeniable and as our shoes continue to gain traction in the triathlon world, Dave is going to be a great ambassador for us.”
Scott won six Ironman World Championships between 1980 and 1987. In 1993, he became the first-ever inductee into the Ironman Hall of Fame, and then he came out of retirement the following year to place second in Kona at the age of 40. Since retiring from racing, Scott remains extremely dedicated to the sport as he leads clinics, sports camps and coaches athletes worldwide, including multiple world champions.
“I’ve been impressed with Hoka ever since testing its Bondi model 18 months ago,” admits Scott. “I was immediately surprised by their lightness and incredible footbed sensation. Now I’m wearing the Clifton on the road and Challenger ATR on the trails. These shoes deliver what can only be described as a ‘snap’ on push-off which is perfect for runners and triathletes.”
