05 Nov The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Full Text is Released
Today, the United States Trade Representative released the full text of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a historic 12-nation free trade agreement. For years, FDRA worked tirelessly on behalf of the footwear industry to ensure industry priorities were included in negotiations and reflected in the final text. Now that the text of the agreement has been released, Congress will have an opportunity to consider the agreement in 2016 and FDRA will continue its advocacy on Capitol Hill.
FDRA President Matt Priest commented on the release of the TPP text:
“We are excited that today the administration has released the text of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). FDRA has worked for years to highlight the need for an agreement that provides significant duty reduction for footwear companies and American consumers because this will allow our industry to create thousands of new American jobs across our supply chain and help drive footwear innovation. We applaud Ambassador Michael Froman and our trade negotiators for reaching this historic agreement and making it available to the public as soon as possible. We look forward to closely reviewing TPP and helping footwear companies understand its positive impact as well as our next congressional advocacy campaign.”
