Trade Deal a Win for Consumers

This month many Americans will purchase new shoes—the family starting back to school, the athlete preparing for a new season, the outdoor enthusiast ready to enjoy fall weather. International trade plays an important role in providing each of these individuals and families with the best and most affordable products. And while those who purchase shoes may not have the loudest voices in today’s trade debate, the biggest beneficiaries of free trade are often American consumers.

At our 413 stores throughout the U.S., we constantly focus on meeting the needs of our consumers, whether it is value for the family buying for back to school, the latest footwear technology for the runner, or style and choice for the college student. In order to the reach the full potential that our industry can provide each of these footwear consumers, Congress should pass the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a free trade agreement between the U.S. and 11 Pacific nations.
