19 Oct Sixty Percent Of Holiday Shoppers Plan To Buy Sporting Goods
According to NSGA’s annual Holiday Shopping Survey, 60 percent of Americans plan to purchase sporting goods as a gift this holiday season, up from 59 percent a year ago.
Athletic apparel leads as the number one planned sports category gift at 45 percent, followed by athletic footwear at 32 percent. Twenty five percent plan to buy sporting goods equipment and 23 percent, sporting goods electronics. Among other planned gift categories, sporting goods tied with general apparel for the number two spot, only trailing gift cards/money.
Not only do more than half of Americans plan to buy sporting goods as gifts, but they also plan to start shopping early. The survey shows that 47 percent of Americans plan to shop for holiday gifts before Thanksgiving.
