22 Aug Soles4Souls – Kevin Cherep named Chief Development Officer
Soles4Souls Inc., the not-for-profit institution dedicated to fighting poverty through the distribution of shoes and clothing, named veteran philanthropy executive Kevin Cherep as chief development officer.
Cherep joins Soles4Souls after serving as Executive Director of the Foundations for Saint Thomas Health, where he directed funding and development for both Saint Thomas and Baptist hospitals.
Previously, Cherep held several positions at CCS Fund Raising, the nation’s largest non-profit consulting and strategic philanthropy firm. While there, he served as Executive Director of the Lions Clubs International Foundation’s Campaign SightFirst II, a global campaign to fight preventable blindness that raised more than $200 million and saved the sight of nearly 35 million people around the world. Cherep also provided strategic development planning and design to a variety of national and international clients including Feeding America, Kiwanis International and the United Methodist Church’s Imagine No Malaria initiative.
“Since joining Soles4Souls as Chief Executive Officer last year, it has become clear that serving our mission to fight poverty must include a robust philanthropic program to support the considerable infrastructure needed to process and deliver millions of articles of clothing each year to our micro-enterprise programs oversees and to where people are suffering following crisis events,” said Soles4Souls CEO Buddy Teaster.
“Many organizations eagerly wanted the benefit of Kevin’s experience, and we are honored that after much consideration he has decided to become a member of the Soles4Souls team. We could not be more excited about the road ahead.”
A former U.S. Navy cryptologist, Cherep attended DePaul University and Truman College.
