Adidas Ban on Third-Party Market Sales Stands in US

Adidas AG will continue to ban its dealers in the United States from selling its products on third-party marketplace sites such as Amazon.com and EBay.com, despite agreeing to reverse the policy in Germany to close an anti-trust investigation in its native country, Sports Executive Weekly has confirmed.

“While there is a new global policy, we have reviewed this on a market basis and can confirm that there are no changes to our policy in the U.S.,” wrote a spokesperson with Adidas U.S. communications team in response to a query from Sports Executive Weekly. “Adidas in the U.S. will continue to restrict retail partners from using open online marketplaces like Amazon and eBay.”

The Bundeskartellamt, or Germany’s Federal Cartel Office, announced July 2 that it had it closed an investigation of Adidas AG after the company dropped its ban on third-party marketplace sales of its products.
