29 Oct Aku Footwear Expands its US Footprint
Aku, an Italian company that make footwear designed for mountaineering, trekking and hiking, named four new U.S. sales reps.
The new hires include: Martin Socha who will be covering New England and Mid-Atlantic, Michelle Emmons in the Southwest, and Scott Slocum and Will Nagengast will be splitting the Midwest states.
“We welcome this group of talented individuals to our company and feel each person brings a unique skill set with a diverse background that will continue to enhance the Aku brand,” says Sam McCoubrey, director of Aku North America. “Our recent growth in North America is reflected in our efforts to create the best products for our active consumers.”
Martin Socha is no stranger to the outdoor and winter sports industry. As an independent rep covering Massachusetts, Vermont., Maine, New Hampshire, Rhose Island, Connecticut, New Jersey Pennsylvania, Delaware, West Virginia, Virginia and Washington DC, he is looking forward to the challenge of working with a small brand and can be reached at hopeandmartin@comcast.net.
Michelle Emmons started her career in retail management at REI and brings extensive sales and communications experience in outdoor retail marketing, along with the practical experience of guiding people to enjoy outdoor adventure. Scott Slocum is an authentic outdoorsman and is expanding his current climbing-focused sales offerings to dealers in the Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin and Kentucky. He can be reached at scott@thestonegroupwest.com.

Aku was founded by Galliano Bordin in Italy in 1955. Since then, the company has grown from a small workshop into a company with more than 30 years of experience in the design and production of high-quality trekking, mountaineering and outdoor footwear. Aku’s production plant is located in Montebelluna, Italy in the province of Treviso. Aku footwear is currently sold in 23 countries.
