On the morning of April 18, 2016, Boston’s men’s winner, Lemi Berhanu Hayle, sported black trainers with white Adidas stripes and neon orange laces. The 21-year-old Ethiopian took first at the Dubai Marathon in 2015 and ended second at Dubai this January, 2016.
Adidas was the official apparel provider of this year’s Boston Marathon.
The Women’s gold finisher, Atsede Baysa, also from Etheopia, crossed the finish line in an unexpected surge of momentum sporting a pair of red and black Nikes. Baysa’s last gold run was in 2012 at the Chicago Marathon.
The much buzzed about women’s American runner, Neely Spence Gracey, made a Top 10 finish at ninth place at this, her first marathon event. She was signed as a sponsored Adidas Running athlete in November, 2015, and wore a pair of pink with white stripped Adidas shoes. The race in Boston marks a special milestone for Gracey, whose father raced the marathon in 1990 while Neely was being born in Chambersburg, PA.
