30 Jul Comfort Shoe Brands Offer Replacement Insoles To Extend Shoe Life
For many comfort footwear brands, it’s what’s inside the shoe that counts. Proprietary footbeds often deliver the brand’s features and benefits from arch supports to metatarsal guards to simple cushioning. So, in order to prolong the life of a shoe, making the most of your investment, companies offer replacement insoles that can be easily swapped out with the original.
According to Scott Cates, national sales manager for Alegria, the brand offers replacement insoles for its signature clogs as well as its dressier wedges and heels. Both are made of a combination of cork, latex and memory foam that massage the foot when walking, and feature an interlocking system whereby the footbeds fit securely into the shoes, explained Cates.
French brand Mephisto, Israeli brand Naot and U.S. brand Otz, also tailor their replacement insoles to work specifically with their line of products. According to Kristine Benglyan, marketing manager for Otz, due to the unique shape of the shoes that follow the natural contours of the foot, the replacement footbeds are customized to its signature silhouettes. Naot makes the switch easy by using a footbed guide allowing consumers to match up their shoe style with the appropriate insole.
Danish comfort brand Ecco, on the other hand, offers replacement insoles that fit both shoes within the brand as well as styles from other shoe labels. Included in the mix are leather-lined versions for dressier looks and styles designed to work with its BIOM collection of sport and golf shoes in addition to athletic-inspired styles.
Also offering replacement insoles that work in a range of brands is Vionic, featuring its proprietary Orthaheel technology. Styles include an Active versions, Women’s Extended Slimfit and Relief 3/4 Length. For must-have comfort brand Birkenstock, David Kahan, CEO of Birkenstock USA, said its replacement insoles give consumers the chance to experience the features and benefits of their unique footbed design by inserting its insoles in their favorite shoes — regardless of the brand. In particular, he said, was its popular Blue footbed that features an arch support and deep heel cup that helps relieve the pain and symptoms of plantar fasciitis symptoms.
