14 Jan Elan Polo signs licensing agreement for Hush Puppies slippers
Elan Polo International, an Overland-based footwear company, has signed a licensing agreement to design, manufacture and market Hush Puppies slippers in the U.S. and Canada.
Hush Puppies, a a casual footwear brand, is part of Wolverine Worldwide Inc. and sells more than 18 million pairs of shoes every year in 160 countries.
The slippers will be sold in national and regional chains as well as at specialty retailers. Products will include shearling and leather models and will include technical components such as comfort food beds and soles made for the indoors and outdoors.
“The Hush Puppies brand, established in 1958, has very high consumer awareness and is well positioned to succeed in today’s retail environment as consumers understand and identify with its core values,” Rob Koenen, president of Hush Puppies, said in a statement.
Elan Polo also is a major supplier of private-label footwear to many large U.S. retailers such as Target and Walmart. It recently launched an initiative to make flip flops and scandals in the U.S. for Walmart as part of the retail giant’s push to sell more goods made domestically.
Some of Elan Polo’s other licensed footwear brands include Build-A-Bear Workshop, CREVO, Daniel Green, DVS, Easton, and Tempur-Pedic.
