03 Oct Famous Footwear’s Shoe Crazy challenge
Imagine walking into a store and being told you can take home as many shoes as you can get your hands on . . . for free.
That’s what happened to one lucky shopper when Famous Footwear opened its newest Long Island location, at 299 Middle Country Road in Selden, in July, and I got to try the Shoe Crazy challenge out for myself on Thursday, but this time, for charity.
There was a catch: I only had 30 seconds and had to grab one shoe box at a time. But at the end, Famous Footwear would donate the total dollar amount of what I gathered to the Salvation Army’s Greater New York Division, an incentive that made the challenge well worth it.
First, I mentally mapped my route, and then I prepared to run. My opponent, a Manhattan-based fashion blogger, never made it, claiming transportation issues. (Probably afraid of his swift competition, if you ask me.)
When my time was up, I was able to grab five pairs of shoes for a grand total of $289.76.
The affordable footwear chain also opened new stores in White Plains and the Bronx this summer, and has locations throughout Nassau and Suffolk County. For a list of store locations and to see their fall styles for men, women and kids, visit famousfootwear.com.
