FDRA President Matt Priest made the following statement in response to House Passage of MTB Reform

“We applaud the House for passing the American Manufacturing Competitiveness Act of 2016 with a strong bipartisan vote of 415 to 2,” said FDRA President Matt Priest, “This legislation will help provide much-needed tax relief for American footwear companies and consumers by establishing a new Miscellaneous Tariff Bill (MTB) process. MTBs have long received strong bipartisan support in Congress because they lower import taxes on products needed by American businesses to increase their competitiveness and create new jobs. The bipartisan legislation authored by Chairman Kevin Brady and Ranking Member Sander Levin will strengthen the MTB process with greater transparency while moving forward on tariff reduction critical to our industry. FDRA will continue to work to advance this important legislation in the U.S. Senate.”
