02 Apr Hoka One One Adds Triathletes
Hoka One One, a division of Deckers Brands, added six new triathletes to its growing roster of pros. The athletes include former Ironman world champion Leanda Cave, Danielle Mack, Lauren Goss, Josh Amberger, Kevin Collington and Drew Scott. Pro triathlete Rachel McBride also returns to the team.
“It’s an honor to have these seven extraordinary triathletes join the Hoka team and help us continue our momentum,” said Jim Van Dine, brand president of Hoka One One. “Their endorsement speaks volumes about the revolutionary impact our running shoes are having across the industry. As the number of elite athletes who choose Hoka continues to grow, we believe more and more everyday runners will be introduced to our footwear and the unique experience we deliver.”
Leanda Cave is one of the top IRONMAN-distance triathletes in the world. In 2012 she won the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, and four weeks later took top honors at the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships. She has also won world titles at International Triathlon Union short and long course events.
At just 27 years old, Danielle Mack is the only female in the world to compete in and finish the triple crown of triathlon world championships: Xterra, IRONMAN 70.3 and IRONMAN. She is also the current Boulder IRONMAN course record holder and has notched three top-five finishes in the past year.
Lauren Goss, Josh Amberger, Drew Scott, and Kevin Collington consistently finish on the podium in triathlons around the world. Goss raced 11 times in 2014, earning three victories, four second-place finishes, two thirds, and a fifth. Amberger achieved five wins, four seconds, one third, and one fourth during his 16 races last year. Drew Scott, son of legendary triathlete Dave Scott, is currently in his third year as a professional triathlete and is already proving to be a top contender with two solid wins in 2014 at Olympic and 70.3 distances. Kevin Collington remains one of the most consistent pros on the circuit, with three top finishes at the 70.3 IRONMAN World Championships over the last five years.
Rounding out the roster is two-time 70.3 champion Rachel McBride from Vancouver, Canada. McBride has numerous podium results in Olympic and long-distance triathlons, including third place at the 2013 ITU Long Distance World Championships and ninth place at the 2014 70.3 World Championships. She is a course record holder at the IRONMAN 70.3 in Calgary, the Canadian National Triathlon Championships and the Squamish Triathlon. In 2015 McBride will again be a strong contender at the 70.3 World Championships.
