Skechers Pier To Pier Friendship Walk Aims to Raise $1.2 Million

On Thursday, the Skechers Foundation announced a $1.2 million fundraising goal for its 2015 Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk in Manhattan Beach, Calif., on Oct. 25.

The walk has raised more than $4 million since it began in 2009, and supports causes such as upgrading school technology and science labs, improving libraries and music programs and preserving teachers’ jobs. It also funds The Friendship Circle, an organization that aids children with special needs and their families.

Last year, the walk raised $1.1 million, and Skechers hopes to break that record this year. Brooke Burke-Charvet is set to host the opening ceremony, with appearances by boxer Sugar Ray Leonard and Hall of Fame baseball manager Tommy Lasorda.
