NEW YORK — 120 executives from leading footwear companies attended the Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America (FDRA) Annual Members Meeting on Tuesday in New York. The meeting welcomed Greg Tunney as FDRA’s new chairman and featured one of the nation’s leading economists who addressed the global and footwear industry economic outlook over the next three years.
At the meeting, FDRA awarded its annual sales survey awards, which are based on weekly sales data provided by major footwear retailers, as well as its advocate of the year award for the company and individual who worked the hardest to advance the footwear industry’s cause in Washington, DC.
“I want to congratulate Rack Room and Stride Rite Childen’s Group for earning FDRA’s 2012 Sales Survey Awards for being the top national footwear sellers in their respective categories. What a great accomplishment for these industry leaders. FDRA also recognized Payless ShoeSource as FDRA’s Advocate of the Year for their tireless efforts in Washington, DC to lower footwear duties on behalf of consumers and the industry.” said FDRA President Matt Priest. “Our annual meeting was a great success and displayed how FDRA represents the entire industry, from major footwear retailers to small family owned footwear companies.
