Collection includes Four New Capsules of Outdoor-Inspired Pieces, Highlighted By Kazuki Capsule
Today, The North Face dropped the launch of its spring/summer 2019 Black Series collection. Previously only available to consumers in Asia and select regions across the globe, Black Series balances utility with premium styling to deliver high-quality, outdoor-inspired pieces for the city explorer. The collection, which is now available at The North Face in Williamsburg, London, Berlin, and Amsterdam retail locations is highlighted by a collaboration with iconic Japanese designer Kazuki Kuraishi.
“As the premium expression of lifestyle for The North Face, Black Series is a collection that reimagines our performance and heritage silhouettes to explore bold styling, innovative materials, and versatile features,” said Tim Bantle, Global General Manager of Lifestyle, The North Face. “We are continually looking to push the boundaries of innovation and design so that people can push their own limits whether they are in the mountains or exploring the city.”
The collection features four distinct product capsules, each focusing on a unique adaptation of non-traditional streetwear for the city environment: Black Series SS19, Kazuki, Tech Denim and Airflow.
Black Series SS19 Capsule – Created for the city explorer and designed for protection against the unpredictable, the Black Series SS19 collection combines utility with fashion and delivers high-quality outdoor-inspired silhouettes translated to the city. Along with innovative design, premium detailing and technology, the collection uses enhanced fabrication and materials to create the pinnacle of modern form and function. The muted earthy palette is perfectly matched to foundation hues to represent its focused, purposeful direction. As a subtle nod to the freshness of spring, a brighter exotic green is infused into the color mix. Features include multiple pockets for utility and versatility yet favor minimalist edge, clean lines, and understated layering.
Kazuki Capsule – The Kazuki collection was designed in partnership with famed Japanese streetwear designer Kazuki Kuraishi. The unisex line reimagines The North Face’s iconic Mountain Light Jacket into new silhouettes. Offering continuity of Kazuki’s distinctive modern-street, minimalist style direction from last season, the latest release is focused on the designer’s revisioning of the Mountain Light Jacket.
Tech Denim Capsule – Denim’s appeal is universal, and its popularity continues to grow as casual wear gains acceptance in new environments. The new Tech Denim capsule celebrates this retro comeback, favoring ‘90s-style oversized silhouettes and a mid-indigo denim-wash palette – yet, with innovative functionality. Engineered for year-round comfort and performance, denim made with Coolmax technology is used to create easy-care jeans, jackets, and shirts that transport moisture away from the body to keep the wearer cool and dry.
Airflow Capsule – The Airflow capsule features a modern street-styled direction paired with new micro-pore ventilation system technology to help stay dry and cool in heat and humidity. With breathable, moisture-wicking fabrics that have UV-protection and anti-microbial properties, pieces are strong yet lightweight with four-way mechanical stretch. The capsule’s palette of vintage white, tin grey and black is bold, yet easy; and a brighter exotic green adds freshness to the monochromatic mix. The line
