22 Apr Under Armour to Open Design Center in Portland, OR
Under Armour confirmed plans to move into the former YMCA building south of downtown Portland to support its footwear and innovation capacities.
“As Under Armour continues its global expansion, Portland has emerged as a strategic hub for the brand, specifically in footwear and innovation,” company spokeswoman Diane Pelkey said in a statement. “We are excited to grow our footprint in the city.”
The confirmation followed Portland Business Journal inquiries last week about the sale. It had reported the building sold last Tuesday to Run Our Dream LLC, which was formed in December. The owners of the LLC aren’t listed in public records. The Portland Business Journal reported in 2013 that Under Armour planned to open a Portland footwear design office.
According to the Oregonian, Under Armour will move about 50 employees, most of them footwear designers, from an office in the North Park Blocks to the new facility
